Affiliate marketing offers the perfect way for the ordinary person to cash in on the billions of sales made online each year. But is Affiliate Marketing right for you? Is it something that you should investigate and pursue further if you truly want to monetize your site or content? As a way of an answer and to get you thinking about affiliate marketing; I would like to offer some of my own experiences as a full-time online affiliate marketer. I would also like to give you some marketing tips and a few pit-falls you should try to avoid. Truth be told, I didn’t plan to become an affiliate marketer. It just happened, mostly by accident, as I was struggling to promote my first site on Internet marketing some 10 years ago now. My original plan was to re-sell some software products with hopes of making my fortune on this new thing called the Internet. Well, to make a long story short, most things don’t quite turn out as we originally plan. Instead of selling my own products, I became much more interested in studying “how to market online” and examining “how marketing systems worked” than actually selling my own stuff. I was much more fascinated in the “nuts & bolts” or “marketing tools” behind these online marketing systems than earning a few pennies. I was particularly captivated by a new search engine called Google. Yes, there are many marketers around who have been studying Google since it first started. And I believe it was Google and its Adsense Program in particular that sort of legitimized the “whole idea of making money online” for me. I turned my attention to other ways of monetizing my sites, especially with affiliate programs. And the rest as they say is history… But enough about me, what about you? Do you have a website? Are you interested in earning extra revenue from your site? Are you trying to earn a full-time income online? More importantly: Is Affiliate Marketing Right for you? First, you have to realize Affiliate Marketing is when you promote and sell affiliate products from your site or sites. Actually, selling is not quite the right word because you DON’T actually sell anything from your site. You merely refer or send customers/interested buyers to the affiliate sites you’re promoting via your affiliate links. Believe me, sometimes this concept is very hard to explain to close family and friends. You don’t have anything to sell? How can you make money? To repeat, with affiliate marketing you don’t sell anything directly online… you send clients and customers to online companies or merchants where they buy stuff and since they’re coming from your site’s affiliate links you get credit for the sale. I don’t directly sell Dell Computers on my sites, I merely send prospective customers to Dell where they can buy Dell products and since they came from my affiliate links I get credit, plus a small commission in return if they buy something. Same goes for Amazon or hundreds of the other companies and products I promote with my sites. Now Affiliate Marketing Fits Me to a Tee! Here’s why… – You don’t handle any sales transactions – You don’t handle any delivery of products – You don’t have to deal with customer complaints or run customer support – You don’t have to manage employees or operate a business – You don’t need an office, stock, or any physical products With Affiliate Marketing all the selling and business operations are done by the company you’re promoting. This saves you from a lot of head-aches and problems that arise from running your own company or developing your own products. It’s all done for you. Furthermore, online Affiliate Marketing does have some great advantages: – Your sites and affiliate links are working for you 24/7, 365 days of the year. You earn sales/commissions while you’re sleeping, eating, watching TV or doing anything we humans do! – You earn money even when you’re on Vacation. This happened to me last year when I went to Florida to see Bruce Springsteen in concert. Unfortunately, a band member died so I didn’t get to see Springsteen but I did make more than enough online to pay for my whole trip WHILE on vacation. It was also the first time, I didn’t have access to my sites for more than a few days, but they still made me money. – Once you get your affiliate links set-up, they will continue to earn you revenue automatically. All your online marketing can be automated and run from your home office or from anywhere you choose. – Keep in mind, your content and sites keep building and growing. Work you did writing that great article two years ago is still bringing in affiliate sales today. – Plus, with Affiliate Marketing, all your marketing materials (banners, sales copy, videos, ads, links…) are all provided for you by the Affiliate Network or Company. – There’s little stress with affiliate marketing mainly because you’re your own boss and you can work at home. No office politics or all that foolishness. No commuting. In addition, there is very little capital investment, for a few hundred dollars or much less, you can have a site up and running on the web. However, Affiliate Marketing does have some real disadvantages: – You can often earn much more if you develop and sell your own products. You’re not really getting the highest return on your site’s content by selling other people’s stuff. The profit margin can be much higher if you sell your own products. – There is also the issue of lost commissions and theft of sales, you can never be sure you’re getting credit for all your traffic and referrals. In most cases you’re not. – Many times there’s stiff competition from other affiliates selling the same stuff and using the same marketing materials… although many top affiliates create their own marketing materials so they stand out in a crowded marketplace. Since I am a full-time online affiliate marketer the benefits far outweighs the few downers associated with this great lifestyle. Mainly because it is just that: a lifestyle rather than a job. I never think of it as a job or working. Maybe, that’s because I am my own master, I can work from home and set my own hours. I can take time off, I can go on vacations or I can live anywhere in the world where there’s Internet Access and these days that’s just about anywhere. The sense of freedom is truly intoxicating to say the least. If you do find Affiliate Marketing is something that you would like to pursue, even part-time if not full-time, here are some of my best tips for increasing your affiliate income and sales: – Focus your marketing efforts and attention on programs and products which give you recurring or residual income. Make one sale and get paid for years to come. – Develop your own sites and marketing materials so that you stand out from the other affiliate marketers. Create your own unique selling position even if you’re not technically selling the products. Give extra bonuses if they buy from your links or site. – Build your own list of customers who are interested in the products you’re promoting. Grow your own list, as well as that of the affiliate company you’re promoting. You will always have these subscribers and you can promote other similar products to them. – Concentrate on targeting “long tail keywords” with your content and sites; these multi-worded keyword phrases are easy to rank high for and usually have better conversion rates. – Cloak your affiliate links to cut down on affiliate theft. For example, ClickBank has a simple HTML code that will hide your link. Use it. – Internet users and especially shoppers want simple helpful information to make their buying decisions easier. Provide them with valuable information they can use in their task and they will reward you with a sale. Also giving away coupons and online discounts will increase your sales and commissions. – Use the major affiliate networks like Commission Junction, LinkShare, ClickBank, Amazon, Shareasale… I have found these networks very simple to use and very effective. Plus, their checks never bounce! – Keep a close eye on your monthly sales, with many of the companies if you go over ,000 or ,000 in sales for the month, you get extra bonus incentives. I have found these bonuses can dramatically increase your monthly income. If you do find that Affiliate Marketing is right for you, chances are almost 100% certain that you will never regret it. Affiliate marketing offers one of the least stressful ways of earning a living on the planet and the lifestyle can’t be beat. Anyone can change their lives with affiliate marketing. Internet Marketing – The BUZZ is the Scam!

Marketing BUZZ has lately become almost a science. It is so effective and essential for driving traffic that any big campaign can not move without it. The sad fact about this is that this Internet Marketing monster has became so sophisticated that when combined with high competition it turn into a SCAM

Internet Marketing is the domain of pushing the limits for circulating words in a virtual space. When selling real product such as TV you can not lie about the list of features. When selling information on the other end, everything is open for interpretation. In other words, one can almost say anything you want about a product since one can always claim for other meaning then what was actually interpreted by the receiver – which is not else then the end customer.

Not surprisingly – one of the Wildest fields for stretching the practice of BUZZ to its ugly limits is the field on selling info products. And more specifically, those products that assume one of the main motivators of the modern person – making money.

Take Clickbank for example, a marketplace for selling and promoting info products. If you want to understand what is a wild and ugly BUZZ check the category of “making-money” products. Check some of those sales pages. These sales pages are all made for augmentation of the value and benefits from the offered product. Usually this is a course made by eBook and Videos and sometimes it also include some software.

Here is my story with one of the products. The name of this product is not so important since I could tell similar story about many of the products sell on Clickbank. For this particular product I was involved from the two sides of the game. First I was registered as JV partner so I got the information the inner circle, but I was also purchase this product so I also got the impression from the perspective of customer.

The sales letter was so convincing, was full with claims that talk to any affiliate marketer (like I am) and was seems to be written by those that know what they are talking about and those that really have something special to offer. I was watching their video and say to my-self. “Yes indeed, you are right!”

The Buzz for this product was huge. It was supported by the major marketers act on Clickbank and they provided exactly what was expected! A non filtered information the same provided by product’s owners, including all the calims that will soon be found as irrelevant to the actual content of the course.

I specifically remember one of the pre launch reviews, a review that I am usually consider as good one. There was a paragraph there that refer to the software included in the product. I remember this guy say something like this – “this is a good software”. I will soon explain why is this sentence catch my attention.

O.k so you probably guess already how big was my disappointment when I purchased this product and enter the members area. There where two videos there, one that explain in general the concept of this course, and another one that explain the usage of the software. And there was a download link for the software. So I downloaded it and play with it. My first surprise was that the training of this course was not really prepared yet at the day of the launch. At once all my good impression was replaced with disappointment. I thought these guys are pro but apparently this was nothing but a Buzz.

So I tested the software they provide, the so call SECRET. This was a disgrace. This is the kind of software that any 1 year programmer can write. I don’t expect you to believe me when I am saying that. I expect you to belive to my 13 years of experience as software engineer. But worst then that, I found a software that do the same, and even better on one of the hosting providers I use. Apparently there was no secret here – those guys turn a practice that run for few years already into a BUZZ. All they sell was a BUZZ. The actual product was not the course, neither the software. It was the BUZZ.

“Clickbank Scam“

Today I read an article that analyze search terms trends with corresponding to Clickbank. One of the graphs there shows a great jump in search demand over years for the term “clickbank scam”. Here is the source article. The article writer presents this with an intention to show how can you take advantage of this trend but I am asking myself:

what is this SCAM that almost everyone are search with corresponding to info products sell on Clickbank?

I know that I bought few courses there and I learned something new from each of those courses. Including the course I referred above. Some was better then the other but I will not describe any of these courses as a scam. So what is this scam everyone are searching for?

Suddenly I realize that – The BUZZ is the Scam!

It was grow and grow and polished until it turn to be a corrupting creature. One of the most brutal examples I can tell about wild buzz is by lying with considering to the end date of the sell. This is indeed a very powerful tool for generating fast income but it corrupt the whole market. In fact today when I land on a sell page for Clickbank’s info product I DON’T:

1. Read testimonials – many of them are fake one written by partners

2. Believe in sales results presented to me – these are edited pages (with small script in address bar) or that those are sales of a product (not as result of affiliation).

3. And now I don’t believe in sells period dead lines (a date or # left of copies)

After few months of examining various products, and reading sales pages I simply skip those pages! I try to find information behind the Buzz. I am surfing the Internet with “Buzz rejection” engine. And from time to time I find spot of lights! An experienced marketers that can really offer me some benefit – some long term knowledge. Those marketers do not usually show a table with sales results. They do not speek in terms of “secret formula”. Instead, those marketers present a long term strategy. A combination of few methods that compose the common sense of any marketing campaign.

And if you ask me, those are the marketers that worth the BUZZ. A realistic one, without brutal lies. A decent one. The kind of buzz that build the fun around this Internet Marketing issue. Maybe the kind of buzz that within few months or years will cause people to search for “Clickbank fun” rather then “Clickbank scam”.

It teaks time but when you search the Internet and give your Email for newsletters then once in a while you find those that can realy teach you. You recognize them by the tone – a moderate tone. They don’t try to convince you, instead they are openinng doors so you can take a look what is behind.

Affiliate marketing has many descriptions, yet all have the same meaning. Affiliate marketing is a huge business piece on the Internet. It is a cooperative effort between merchants and an affiliate’s website. For many years now, affiliate marketing has proved to be a cost-efficient, measurable method of delivering long-tern results. It has become famous for Internet sites who are trying to make some extra or additional income for their site. Every day, people get interested to affiliate marketing and want to make money out of it. But in many cases, these new affiliates do not fully understand the affiliate world and make costly mistakes. In other words, affiliate marketing has often been misunderstood.

One of the common misconceptions that are being associated about affiliate marketing is “selling”, though selling is an important activity of affiliate marketing and the central function of a business operation. Another is that affiliate marketing is commonly linked with “advertising”. While the importance of advertising in marketing a certain product is not to be underestimated, the fact of the matter is, advertising like selling, is merely a part of the many functions of marketing.

In affiliate marketing, an affiliate is compensated for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer provided through his efforts. The said compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visit. The most attractive aspect of affiliate marketing from the merchant’s viewpoint is that no payment is due to an affiliate until results are appreciated.

Affiliate marketing is typically being run by affiliate networks and this affiliate networks are composed of two functional bodies, the group affiliates and the group merchants. Each has their special function and role when it comes to affiliate marketing. The affiliate network acts as a third party between the merchant and the associated affiliates. The network provides the technology to deliver the merchant’s campaigns and offers. The affiliate network also collects commission fees from the merchant and then pays the affiliates which are part of the program.

The merchant is any web site owner that wants or desires to take advantage of performance based marketing. The benefits to the merchant are many. First, the merchant maintains and operates the affiliate program. If it would be extracted, the merchant needs to do their part by researching interested affiliate websites to ensure that they are a good fit for that particular website. Finding a fit for their merchandise would be the key to more generated income. The merchant has access to markets and customers without him spending valuable time searching out. Banner ads on affiliate sites are not distracting to the site user. It might produce interest for that product and drive the consumer to the merchants’ website. It is also the merchant who decides how much he is willing to pay for each sale that results from a visitor sent from an affiliate.

The affiliate or the affiliate marketer also sees a lot of benefits. The affiliate is a web site owner that promotes one or more merchants and their affiliate programs. Affiliate marketing can generate a full-time income for the affiliate. But this is not an easy task to accomplish. The affiliate needs to have a better understanding with the merchant what the commission will be, expected payment method and time involved in the contract. The affiliate has also the responsibility to stand for the merchandise their user based would be most interested in. For example, if the site has a user base of mainly stay-at-home mothers, then on-line job openings such as surveys would be a good match for them. This group would also appreciate direct links to children’s products and informational sites. Merchandisers often provide targeted, best-seller items and personal support to their affiliate. They often offer sales promotions that will benefit the merchandiser as well as the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is a great situation for both the marketer and the affiliate. If they would work together, they can be an advantage to both. Plus the fact that it seems to make sense, it is easy and inexpensive way to start, and you can be up and running within a few days. But there is one thing to consider, it is how to get traffic and make your offer different than all others.

7 Lessons I Learnt Whilst Losing Thousands Internet Marketing

SEVEN LESSONS I LEARNT WHILST LOSING THOUSANDS INTERNET MARKETING

This is the story of a novice internet marketer who has spent a
miserable, frustrating and expensive twelve months learning the
lessons of selling on the internet – the hard way! However, he
believes that he has turned the corner and is now looking
forward to, at least modest, future profits. That person is me,
and I would like to share my experiences with you in the hope
that your journey will be less painful than mine. I am certainly
not suggesting that the lessons I learnt are definitive, nor
will they apply to every one else who embarks on a campaign of
internet marketing. I am merely recounting what happened to me
and the problems I encountered.

My journey started in November 2004 when I attended a conference
with a speaker who was, by his own admission, an internet
millionaire. He, like me, was a professional speaker but he had
diversified into selling his products and services to this
world-wide market. Like many of my colleagues, I had previously
heard bits and pieces about internet marketing and I was hungry
to learn more. It is true to say that I was captivated by his
story and, especially, by the rich pickings that he said were
out there on the net, for relatively little time and expense.
‘Make money in your sleep’ was a phrase he used. I was inspired
- well, who wouldn’t be by the prospect of working at home for a
few hours a day whilst watching the money flow in 24/7! I bought
his pack of tutorials, ebooks, CDs etc for 0 – my first
investment in this Brave New World.

Interestingly, I write this article the day after attending
another meeting that had a speaker again telling us how easy it
is to make serious money on the internet. Whilst I do not doubt
that such people indeed do make a very good living for
relatively little effort, believe me, it is not easy! Making
money selling products or information on the net is not a quick
fix! Like any new business (for that is what it is), it takes
time and effort to learn all its intricacies. Unless you have a
product that people want to buy; a web site that sells it
effectively; and a means of driving lots of people to it, you
will end up throwing good money after bad. Hence my first lesson

Lesson No 1. Do not believe all you hear from internet experts
who tell you how easy it is to make your fortune. It isn’t!

Let me continue my story. So, off I went on my new venture. I
eagerly read the information that I had just bought, along with
lots of other advice and guidance from internet marketers. Many
recommended additional software that would make selling on the
web more effective. I took their advice and bought some of the
products they championed, for example a programme for making
attractive website banners, and another that promised to produce
amazingly effective sales pages for the website that I was to
produce. However, the banners I made were far from attractive
and when I sought advice from the company I bought the software
from, they failed to reply. As for the sales page generator, it
did teach me some good lessons but was far too inflexible and
restrictive so I soon reverted to writing my own copy.

What I did not realise at the time was that the internet
marketers who were recommending these products were affiliates:
they received a commission from every sale resulting from their
recommendation. I now know that affiliate marketing is big
business and can produce significant income flows. In fact, let
me put my cards on the table: I am going to recommend two
products to you later in this article and I will gain a
commission if you take my advice. However, these are products
that I truly believe in and have been extremely helpful to me. I
believe that they are worth every cent to someone serious about
making money. You can, of course, take my word for that, or not.
At least I have been up-front about it!

Lesson No 2. Beware of advice from ‘experts’ who may be more
interested in making money as an affiliate than in helping you.

Of course, to make money in any business you have to have a
product that people want to buy. What was I going to sell? Well,
I have always been fascinated by quotes – words of wisdom from
those who can add so much meaning in so few words. Indeed, my
first book is entitled ‘Leadership Quote Unquote’ and contains a
host of quotes from, as my publisher added to the book cover,
‘world figures – the famous, the infamous and the downright
dastardly!’

Imagine my excitement when I researched how many people were
looking for quotes on the internet. Google estimated that over
5,000 people every day searched for an appropriate quote. I
estimated that if I sold my book for and one in a hundred
people who clicked on my website bought my book, I would make
9,014 profit a year. Wow! Even if only a modest one in three
hundred bought it I would still make ,684. Wouldn’t you be
excited by that income earning potential?

To cut a long story short, whilst lots of people do regularly
seek out appropriate quotes, I now know that very few are
prepared to pay for them! Why should they, when they can get
them for free on other websites? I am now just about breaking
even with this particular campaign – a situation I am prepared
to accept for the time being as the website does provide me with
other spin-off benefits. However, I have subsequently
diversified and am now selling a number of other information
products, using a different website for each – some more
successful than others. Inevitably, not all sales campaigns will
be initially successful, hence you have to continually fine-tune
several aspects of the marketing process to gradually improve
their effectiveness.

Lesson No 3. It might sound obvious – but make sure that you
sell something that people want to buy.

marketing tutorial. I am not, therefore, going to go into detail
about technicalities such as website design, Google AdWords,
Google AdSense, market testing, copy writing etc. That said if I

The next step on my journey, having deciding that selling quotes
was to provide the basis of my pension fund (!), was to design a
website to sell my ebook. The most well-known website design
software, and the one that was recommended to me, was Microsoft
FrontPage so that is what I bought. Unfortunately, I found it to
be extremely confusing, frustrating – not at all user-friendly.
I did make a website but it was far from professional. In fact,
a friend of mine who is a successful internet marketer politely
commented that he would certainly not buy anything from a site
like mine!

He went on to tell me that he had recently discovered a new
website design programme called XSitePro that is two thirds the
price of Front Page and infinitely easier to use. In fact, he
was in the process of redesigning all his many sites using it.
Having faith in his advice, I shelled out 7, bought the
software and was absolutely blown away by it! XsitePro is
designed specifically for people who sell on the internet. It is
so easy to use that I am now churning out professional-looking
websites in less than half a day – and they work. In fact,
having not sold one of my ebooks for weeks beforehand on my
FrontPage site, I launched my new site, using XSitePro, and sold
one within half an hour. I could hardly believe it!

Hence, my fourth piece of advice. I make no apologies for being
so direct – if you want to produce easy websites that sell,
click on the link at the end of this article and check out

Lesson No 4. Don’t waste you time with other website design
software, buy XSitePro.

So, once you have designed your website, you will need to
ensure that your potential customers can find it. Essentially,
you have two choices: work hard at driving it up the search
engine rankings or pay for the privilege by using Google
Adwords. Perry Marshall’s ebook ‘The Definitive Guide to Google
Adwords’ goes into great depth about making the most of Adwords
but, essentially, you bid to have an advert promoting your
website featured on the right-hand side of a Google search page
as a ‘sponsored link’. However, you only pay when people click
on your ad.

Most experts will argue that using Pay Per Click (Google
Adwords) is the best way to promote websites of limited size
like the ones internet marketers use to promote their products.
And that is what I did.

Unfortunately, though, I did not pay sufficient attention to
setting up my sites. I accepted Google’s recommended daily
budget; set my pay-per-click rates too high; advertised in too
many countries and advertised in its content network as well as
its search network. Perry Marshall’s ebook explains all these
settings in fine detail. I only wish I had bought it in the
early stages because I ended paying much more than I needed to.

So, I had set up my Google AdWords campaign and was up and
running – but was not selling any products. I was, however,
getting hundreds of clicks a day, so was ever hopeful. My wife
and I then went away on holiday and I put my internet marketing
campaign out of my mind, in the confident knowledge that when I
returned my In Box would be full of orders.

Imagine my horror when I returned to find no product orders but
a 0 Google AdWords bill. It doesn’t take much time to
accumulate those costs when you are getting hundreds of clicks a
day; you are selling no products; and your daily Google budget
is set at !

The lesson here is crucial. In the early stages at least, you
MUST keep a close, daily eye on your Google Adwords account. As
time goes on and you have fine-tuned your account you can leave
it for a day, or two, but initially you must not let it get out
of control.

Lesson No 5. Keep very close control of your Google AdWords
account in its early stages

I mentioned previously that you must fine-tune your ad campaign
if you want to maximise its sales potential. The critical factor
here is the Click Through Rate (CTR) – how often people click on
your ad when it is displayed on a page of Google search results.
If your ad features 100 times when people enter, for example,
‘inspirational quote’ as a Google search term and two of them
actually click on your ad the CTR would be 2%. Improving the CTR
is important to maximising your sales potential.

This is a very detailed process where specific changes, for
example trying out different ad formats or even using capital
letters in certain areas of your ad, can make a real difference
to your CTR. Perry Marshall is an accomplished expert on using
Google Adwords and I have, personally, learnt a great deal from
his ebook.

Lesson No 6. Work hard at fine-tuning your Google Adwords
campaigns to maximise their CTR and, if your website and your
product are attractive, your revenue will gradually increase

And so to the last lesson that I have learnt. Going back to
where I started, I have realised that making money on the
internet is not, as I told my wife, ‘the pot of gold at the end
of the rainbow’. However, I do believe that there is serious
money to be made by people like me who are prepared to work hard
at ensuring the three essential elements are in place, namely:

* A product that people are looking for and are prepared to buy
* A website that is effective in selling that product * A sales
campaign that directs people towards your website

Personally, over the last twelve months, I have struggled on all
three counts, and have thus paid the price. However, I have
learnt my lessons and am confident that I will now begin to reap
at least some of the riches that definitely are out there on the
World Wide Web.

I have been told that my experiences are not unusual. Surprise,
surprise: contrary to what some internet experts tell us, very
few people strike gold immediately. It takes time and a lot of
hard work and determination. It does not surprise me, therefore,
that many people who embark on the journey as I did, fell at the
early hurdles. My final lesson, and piece of advice, is
therefore to ensure that your internet strategy is sound and
then work hard at making it successful.

If you hate statistics and are involved in online affiliate marketing, you will probably be disappointed to know that it is a very essential component to your success. For one, you will have to understand statistics in order to determine the viability of a program. You’ll also need it to find out whether or not you can be hopeful regarding the financial side of your business.

Statistics will also help you determine how you can win in terms of affiliate internet marketing commissions, without which your program will be inadequate and your efforts useless. You’ll also need to learn how to ‘read’ the numbers so you can maintain a sufficient balance in the factors that affect your future income.

Increasing your online affiliate marketing commissions

Earnings from affiliate marketing programs come in the form of commissions, similar to the type of earnings that salespeople receive based on the sales they generate. Affiliate commissions are a type of performance-based income, in that the amount will depend on how much an affiliate can produce based on the sales brought in by his leads.

There are several factors that will affect the amount of affiliate commissions you’ll earn from an affiliate marketing program. These are:

The choice of affiliate internet marketing program

Not every affiliate marketing program pays the same amount of affiliate commissions to its affiliates. Affiliates will have a choice of programs offering a low pay scale ranging from about 5 to 15 percent per sale or performance while others may pay as much as 60 to 75 percent, depending on the type of affiliate products or services being offered.

All things being equal, choosing the program that pays a higher affiliate commission will result to higher sales.

This can be tricky, however. If you have the niche or at least a good market following, taking advantage of affiliate marketing programs that pay higher commissions will be a no-brainer. However, if you cannot capture the desired market, you might have to experiment with a combination of programs that will bring in the kind of income that is satisfactory to you.

By maximizing your ability and opportunity and building your reputation in the process, you will be able to earn a decent income and solidify your presence at the same time.

The type of earning opportunity an affiliate program can offer will also make a difference in the amount of commissions you can hope to earn. Two-tier programs, for example, offer a better income-generating opportunity than flat programs. Two-tiers offer two income sources, generally from commissions on sales of a product or service and from recruitment of a new affiliate. Income from recruitment can either be a one-time cut (usually a flat rate) for recruiting each new member or a commission off of those members’ future earnings.

Some affiliate marketing programs may also offer recurring affiliate commissions, in which an affiliate can earn each time their lead or member renews a subscription or a membership. This type of program means you can hope to earn for as long as your leads or recruits continue to use an affiliate product or service.

Since choosing these types of affiliate programs can make a huge difference in the amount of commissions you can earn from an affiliate marketing program, it makes more practical sense to consider carefully the type of future earnings you can potentially generate.

The product

Affiliate marketing commissions will also depend on the type of products or services the program offers. A product that has the misfortune to belong to a market that’s already heavily saturated will be difficult to sell. On the other hand, a popular item can mean large sales if you have a strong and ready market.

Find out how you can perform based on the statistics offered by the affiliate marketing program you wish to join. ClickBank, for example, allows you to view a product’s potential based on its past performance.

The market

Affiliate marketing commissions rely heavily on how effective an affiliate’s sales and marketing strategies are. In many ways, they will also depend on the relative popularity of the affiliate and on the type of market he chooses to sell to. A small but highly targeted market is more likely to bring in higher commissions for an affiliate while a fairly large but generic market may not produce the same results.

The conversion period
Once you have selected the best and most profitable affiliate marketing program in terms of commissions, your next concern would be how to shorten the conversion period for your customers.

The conversion period refers to the time from which you bring in your lead until the time that he performs a desired action. This action can vary – a lead may subscribe to a service, purchase a product, participate in an online poll or become a recruit. Since the incentive that drives leads to perform a specific action can vary, conversion periods can last anywhere from a very short 24 hours to about 30 to 60 days.

Your job as an affiliate is to persuade your leads to shorten their conversion period and thus increase your affiliate marketing commissions within a reasonable amount of time.

Just finished check my email. Nothing new, three payment notification emails from PayPal, two new ClickBank sales, one new prospect in membership site I’m promoting and one mail from a frustrated marketer “I’ve been doing Internet marketing for last 3 years, I’ve joined so many programs. I
max out my credit card but haven’t made a dime yet.”
I receive this type of mails daily and always wonder why people don’t earn money through Internet. In fact it’s the easiest way to make money. I think there may be two reasons behind it.

1. People are not willing to learn.
People don’t want to learn. A research shows that 97% people think that they are smarter than others and they need not to learn new things. I’m not saying that they are wrong. Off course they are expert in their field but when it comes to other field or say Internet marketing they are zero. They don’t know anything about it so they should learn first.
You may ask what about the rest 3%. Well these 3% people don’t think they are smarter (they are actually smartest) and they try to learn from everyone. That’s why these 3% people are having 97% wealth of the world.

2. Internet is filled with hypes.
The second reason is that internet is filled with hypes. There are thousands of companies and marketers, who want only your money. They don’t care about you and usually don’t deliver what they promised. When somebody tries to
learn from them, he ends up with an exhausted credit card and a belief that “There is no money in Internet Marketing”
So the real question is what you should do to get succeed. In one line “Learn everything from a reliable source and implement that strategies in your business.
There is a shocking fact “successful internet marketers don’t try to sale anything to anybody”.
“What, how will they earn money if they don’t sale” you may ask. Well first they gain trust of people and than simply recommend some product. The best way to gain trust is give them some valuable gift. It may be a mini-course, a short report or some kind of software. You too can do it.
>> I don’t have enough knowledge to create a mini-course or report.
>> I don’t have any software to giveaway.
>> I am not so famous why people will trust me.
>> I can’t do it because I am too young or too old.
>> I missed the right time to enter in Internet marketing.
You may sound like this but there is always a way around what-ever the excuse is. When these famous marketers started, nobody knows them. Today we have a marketer who earned millions in just 19 years of age. So don’t forget “There is always a way.”

1. Join list of 5-6 well-known marketers.
The first step is very important. Join mailing list of 5-6 famous marketers and learn what they teach you. If you learn carefully, you’ll come to know that things are always same, the only difference is way of presentation. When you
join some e-courses from famous marketers, you’ll have enough data to compile your own course. I’m not saying that you just copy their course. Grab an Idea from their course and make yours.

2. Search for free software you can giveaway.
