Increased Website Traffic–Tools That Every Internet Marketer Should Know

If you’re a web developer or internet marketer, you’ll want to make use of every element that promotes increased website traffic. While it may sound fairly easy it’s not necessarily so. The key to good and effective search engine optimization or SEO is balance, and sometimes striking a balance is easier said than done.

Keyword density

By now, you should already know that the text in your website is a major tool that promotes increased website traffic. Unless you optimize the text in your website with significant keywords, the search engine crawlers won’t be able to recognize you.

Some internet marketers, make the mistake of over-optimizing their website. This means publishing articles that are too rich with keywords. These articles will tend to look totally useless for the human readers. You need to learn how to incorporate keywords into your text without making it seem unnatural, awkward or annoying. In other words, when you’re employing SEO tactics, you need to use your gut feeling and avoid overdoing things. Only include the keywords to your text when called for. If you’re unsure about how you should pull this off, you can always get professional web content writers to do this for you.

Simple and effective layout

Another important aspect when you’re planning your website is the layout. Amateur website designers tend to overdo flash images, graphics, and multiple frames. While these tools look fancy to the human eye, they don’t help much in getting the website ranked higher on search engines.

Remember, the key to effective SEO is balance. Make sure that you’re not incorporating elements into your design that aren’t necessary. If you can deliver your sales pitch without resorting to frames, make do with a simpler layout. Remember, flash images and photos take a lot of bandwidth, and they have very minimal text that search engine crawlers can detect.

If you’re placing a flash image into your website, remember that the more complicated it is, the slower it’ll upload on the visitor’s browser. Apply elements sparingly if they don’t contribute to page rankings online anyway.

The Number One Secret to Internet Marketing Success

The number one rule in internet marketing is: Target your market.

This is good advice. If you don’t know who your target market is, you will have a lot of trouble selling your products or services.

However, before you can determine who your target market is, you need to know who your competition is.

My Mom always told me, “Actions speak louder than words”. What she was saying is that you can listen to what other people are saying, but if you really want to know what they are really thinking, you need to watch what they are doing.

A lot has been said about internet marketing gurus, and how they will never tell you their real secrets to internet marketing. If they did, you could easily become their competition. You don’t have to reinvent the wheel, just market better, and offer more value. This is how you put your competition out of business.

I believe this is true. I also know that many of the top named internet marketing “gurus” took offline marketing techniques, adapted them to the internet, and used these techniques to catapult them to success. They also continue to use the same techniques offline.

Understanding what your competition is really doing is your first, and most important step, to success.

So, how do you get started?

First, you need to do a search in the search engines. I use Alexa for this because Alexa delivers a lot more information about websites than standard search engines. To me, Alexa is a marketer’s paradise because of all the information it offers.

Start by selecting the market your site fits into. You can be as general or as specific as you want to be. However, the more specific you are, the more likely you are to nail down your market.

For example, if you sell fishing equipment, put the search term in quotes and then do a search for “fishing equipment”. This will help you really narrow down the sites that will be your competion.

Next, you really want to study the sites you are competing against. This is especially true if you sell anything related to internet marketing. You really want to find out if the person really “practices what he preaches”.

(I personally am always skeptical of buying from marketers that don’t provide examples of their results with products they are promoting. This is especially important with each new trend we see in internet marketing.

If you can’t find examples in action by marketers who are touting certain products, don’t buy. This is especially true with blogging scripts and tools, Adsense (you want to see one of their sites), or any other marketing techniques.)

Now, you’re probably wondering what you’re looking for when you visit your competition’s site.

Here are a few:

1. What is the site’s Alexa ranking?
One of the factors Alexa uses to rank sites is the amount of traffic they get. As long as the traffic is targeted, lots of traffic should lead to lots of sales although this isn’t always the case.

The further you niche, the lower the raniking may be. This doesn’t necessarily mean the site doesn’t get a lot of traffic or that its not making any money. This is only one factor you need to consider.

2. How many sites did you find for the search term?
Depending on the search engine, you’ll find different search engines offer different results. In the case of our term fishing equipment (in quotes), Alexa returned 718,000 results. The number one site returned had no traffic data, so you’ll definitely want to study sites like these. If the site achieves a number ranking for the term, but it has no traffic data, definitely studying it will give you insight into how the site is being marketed.

You can do a search by URL and get more detailed traffic rankings. You can also find out what sites link back to the site. This will tell you if you the site is using an affiliate program to increase sales, as well as any partners the site may have.

Once you get to the site, there are several factors you may want to consider:

1. What keywords does the site use?
You can find out by viewing the source of the site. This isn’t about copying or stealing. You are doing this for informational purposes only.

2. What type of site did you find?
Is it a content site, a sales letter, a sales site? This is an important question because it will help you in creating and formatting your own site.

Although sales letter sites are great for making sales, they don’t do well in the search engines. Also, the idea of giving people only one choice isn’t the only way to make money either. Internet searchers are looking for content too, and they have a minimum of two choices on your site. Depending on the type of site, they can accept your offer or click away.

If you’re offering what the potential customer is looking for, you have a better chance of making the sale, and as long as your potential customers doesn’t have to dig too deep to find what they’re looking for, you won’t have too much trouble making the sale.

3. Does the site offer a list?
The site owner is leaving money on the table without one. You need a list.

If the site does have a list, join it. See what type of messages the site owner sends out, as well as frequency. Some site owners will even tell you how many subscribers they have on their lists.

While you’re at it, put yourself in your customers’ shoes. Try to look at the site from your customers’ viewpoint.

There’s a lot more you can learn from studying your competitions’ sites. Studying a few internet marketing gurus’ sites will definitely help you too. It won’t take you long to discover how they market their sites, and what you learn can easily help you increase your bottom line.

The Affiliate Marketer Also Sees a Lot of Benefits

Affiliate marketing has many descriptions, yet all have the same meaning. Affiliate marketing is a huge business piece on the Internet. It is a cooperative effort between merchants and an affiliate’s website. For many years now, affiliate marketing has proved to be a cost-efficient, measurable method of delivering long-tern results. For more details go to www.ad-tracking-pro.com . It has become famous for Internet sites who are trying to make some extra or additional income for their site. Every day, people get interested to affiliate marketing and want to make money out of it. But in many cases, these new affiliates do not fully understand the affiliate world and make costly mistakes. In other words, affiliate marketing has often been misunderstood.

One of the common misconceptions that are being associated about affiliate marketing is “selling”, though selling is an important activity of affiliate marketing and the central function of a business operation. Another is that affiliate marketing is commonly linked with “advertising”. While the importance of advertising in marketing a certain product is not to be underestimated, the fact of the matter is, advertising like selling, is merely a part of the many functions of marketing.

In affiliate marketing, an affiliate is compensated for every visitor, subscriber and/or customer provided through his efforts. The said compensation may be made based on a certain value for each visit. The most attractive aspect of affiliate marketing from the merchant’s viewpoint is that no payment is due to an affiliate until results are appreciated.

Affiliate marketing is typically being run by affiliate networks and this affiliate networks are composed of two functional bodies, the group affiliates and the group merchants. Each has their special function and role when it comes to affiliate marketing. The affiliate network acts as a third party between the merchant and the associated affiliates. The network provides the technology to deliver the merchant’s campaigns and offers. The affiliate network also collects commission fees from the merchant and then pays the affiliates which are part of the program.

The merchant is any web site owner that wants or desires to take advantage of performance based marketing. The benefits to the merchant are many. First, the merchant maintains and operates the affiliate program. For more details go to www.master-affiliates-marketer.com If it would be extracted, the merchant needs to do their part by researching interested affiliate websites to ensure that they are a good fit for that particular website. Finding a fit for their merchandise would be the key to more generated income. The merchant has access to markets and customers without him spending valuable time searching out. Banner ads on affiliate sites are not distracting to the site user. It might produce interest for that product and drive the consumer to the merchants’ website. It is also the merchant who decides how much he is willing to pay for each sale that results from a visitor sent from an affiliate.

The affiliate is a web site owner that promotes one or more merchants and their affiliate programs Affiliate marketing can generate a full-time income for the affiliate. But this is not an easy task to accomplish. The affiliate needs to have a better understanding with the merchant what the commission will be, expected payment method and time involved in the contract. The affiliate has also the responsibility to stand for the merchandise their user based would be most interested in. For example, if the site has a user base of mainly stay-at-home mothers, then on-line job openings such as surveys would be a good match for them. This group would also appreciate direct links to children’s products and informational sites. Merchandisers often provide targeted, best-seller items and personal support to their affiliate. They often offer sales promotions that will benefit the merchandiser as well as the affiliate.

Affiliate marketing is a great situation for both the marketer and the affiliate. If they would work together, they can be an advantage to both. Plus the fact that it seems to make sense, it is easy and inexpensive way to start, and you can be up and running within a few days. But there is one thing to consider, it is how to get traffic and make your offer different than all others.
